Tom

Aged twenty-six, Tom found himself struggling with depression. He had always worked since leaving school. As happens in life relationships break down, & Tom found himself separated from his girlfriend & kids, living in a one-bedroom flat. He was relying on benefits to get him through this tough period, but due to his overwhelming depression, he had missed an appointment at the Job Centre which resulted in his benefits being sanctioned- he was left with nothing.

When Tom called us, he had no food whatsoever. We put together a food parcel & dropped off a few days worth of essential supplies. Whilst we were dropping off the food parcel, we noticed that he didn’t have a fridge. Fortunately, we had just received a generous donation of an undercounter one which we were able to pass onto him.

Tom was delighted with the help we were able to give him, & has promised us a donation when he is back on his feet. A food parcel & a fridge may not seem much, but those little things can really lift the spirits of people who are struggling.

SFAFB are always happy to help those in need, people just like Tom who are experiencing a period of hardship & need some support to get back on their feet.
